As of late, I’ve been mulling over whether to bang or not to bang. This happens at least once a year. The pros? A super cute, fun, new look to change up my usually static hair style. The cons? My thick and often wavy hair can rarely be tamed and the bangs can be quite a project in the morning. So while I mull some more (and likely not cut them as I’ve vowed to grow my hair out), here is my list of the best bangs:
1. Sienna Miller in Alfie – The London Bang

2. Jenny Lewis/Zooey Deschanel – The Hipster Bang

3. Kate Moss – The Model Bang

4. Camilla Belle – The Babe Bang

5. Nicole Richie – The Boho Bang

So, what’s your fave?

I’m in love with the Jean Paul Gautier for La Perla preview photos we are seeing. Show me corsets, show me black, show me nudes, show me everything and I mean everything. I’m questionably a larger fan of undergarments than I am of actual garments, and La Perla is at the top of my list. I couldn’t imagine La Perla becoming any better than it already was, until I heard of this collaboration and feasted my eyes on these. I can’t wait to see the full collection in November and should I win the lottery, may be able to afford some of these pieces which can range as high as $1,236.

Move over Project Runway – well maybe not all the way over – there’s a new show stealing the fashion spotlight. Tucked away between Lifetime Movies and syndicated television, is Project Runway’s love child “On the Road with Austin and Santino.” Already weeks well into it’s premier season, I’ve taken quite a fancy to two of the biggest Project Runway personalities to hit TV. I would never put these two together in my mind, but I’m glad someone in development at Lifetime thought of this brilliant duo as something that we needed to see.
The concept of the show is that Austin and Santino go to various towns to help those in need of a great outfit get a custom garment made by the two. It’s almost more entertaining just to see them in these unusual small towns interacting with locals than it is to see them make clothes. As expected, the show delivers with laughs and great fashion as these two personalities come together to bring nothing but joy on the road.
Do yourself a favor and tune into an episode if you just can’t get enough Project Runway.

Hello Suzie Bird. I wasn’t surprised to learn that Ms. Bird hailed from France after taking a liking to her. Most American girls dream of growing up French, under the Eiffel Tower eating croissants at cafes and falling in love. And so, I have a natural liking for the French.
Today Suzie is 21 and living in New York, signed with Elite Models and walking with some of the biggest names in fashion twice a year at every fashion week. Suprisingly enough, she only started modeling a few years prior at 18 when she signed with Elite Paris.
Suzie is the definition of a fresh face, bringing a youthful radiance to the runway with her doll like figure and dark eyes as deep as a novel. She has a classic look and has become an instant favorite since she’s signed with Elite Paris in 2008. I predict a very Stam-esque future Suzie and there’s no telling where she can go with those cheekbones and timeless good looks.
With New York Fashion Week just weeks ago, I’m almost just as excited to see photos of Suzie on various fall fashions than I am of the actual fashions.

Apologies for the lack of posts for the past, oh, months! Life got me swept up in a bevy of different adventures and misadventures. I’ll try to be a good little blogger from now. And so for today… I’m writing more about my love for the scarab. I wear a scarab necklace pretty fanatically and juxtapose it with my dainty girlish skirts and ruffles. Unfortunately, my little necklace was bought at a thrift store in San Francisco and quite frankly isn’t made of any metal worth keeping for very long, so I’ve begun my search for my insect replacement. I may be a little late on this ship, but in this search, I’ve stumbled upon Bottega Veneta’s collection of scarabs and I feel like my prayers have been answered.

Opening Ceremony recently teamed up with director Spike Jonez to release a wildly hairy line of garb inspired by the film “Where the Wild Things Are.” I love a good onezie but I’m actually surprised that I’m digging these threads more practically than for costuming.

What do you think? Will you be sporting these faux furry fashions? I could totally sport that last coat in the winter. Well, maybe not in Los Angeles. But NYC beware.

It’s always great to hear that a fashion icon is going to start her own fashion line. So when I heard Madonna was launching a line of clothing for women called Material Girl, I couldn’t help but be excited and intrigued at what the Queen of Pop was going to have in store for us. Today, we get our first look at the sketches for the Material Girl line, which will be sold at Macy’s Department stores in early August. With what little information we have, and the sketches, I’m still reserving my opinion for the actual pieces or look book to hit the public eyes. The first look is obviously a nod to Madonna’s 80’s look that people typically reserve for Halloween or themed parties. I’m not sure if this modern twist will translate to the streets, but the pieces individually could be great finds. The blazer on look one could be a great piece to mix and match within your closet. The other looks are pretty standard and in line with the kinds of things we see in stores currently, which isn’t always exciting.
What do you think? Will you be heading to Macy’s to pick up some pieces from Material Girl? Is this what you would expect from Madge?

Hello Kitty continues her world domination. Next stop? Your feet. Specifically, those Doc Martens you’ve probably been thinking about buying. They’re cute, funky and girl-y. If you’re looking to channel your inner Harajuku girl (^.^) or looking for some edge, hit your stores this summer for some Docs:

Today, Emily and I swung by the Patchwork Show which featured tons of interesting handmade arts and crafts. Our buddy Melissa Loschy of Melissa Loschy Designs was also there as a vendor, peddling her wares and making some dough. I’d recommend finding out if you have any of these type of handmade crafts shows in your area and checking them out. There were vintage vendors there, like Salvage Life which has the cutest little dresses you will ever find. There were also yummy food vendors, some organic and vegan treats, and even a food truck (my personal fave, and current obsession). There was also music — a DJ spinned to the power of the sun, no joke and even a bike valet for the eco-friendly crowd. It was an interesting group of peopling ranging from hippies, hipsters, the tattoo-clad crowd, fashionistas and even older people seeking unique finds at an awesome outdoor event. I didn’t buy anything, and if you’ve been following me on Twitter you’ll know I’ve been on a temporary shopping ban while I transition to a new city and new job. But how tempting! I collected business cards so I could find the vendors as soon as I was able to make some purchases.
Overall the event was, if nothing, very inspiring for someone with creative endeavors. It wanted me to go out and just make things. Make what, I don’t know. I saw so many cool trinkets and things that I would have never thought to create and it got the little artist inside of me going.

Can anyone tell me what is going on with the color of Lauren Conrad’s hair? Usually very prim and proper, Lauren’s hair seems to be doing some sort of multi-shade ombre fade. Yes, I know she’s in fashion, designs, and some might say a style icon, but Conrad has been anything but influential or edgy. For me, this ombre beach blonde look is a miss. Lauren’s got great hair and I much prefer her more tamed golden locks. It almost looks like it might just be a mistake, a bad photograph, or just an old dye job growing out – major faux pas.
Strange or fashion forward?
